Abstract:

The study aimed to reveal the role of applying the principles of governance in enhancing the organizational reputation of universities from the perspective of faculty members.  The study also seeks to identify the differences among faculty members concerning the research variables (governance principles and organizational reputation). A stratified random sample method was adopted, and research samples were randomly selected in coordination with the administration of each university. A total of (156) questionnaires were distributed, of which (115) questionnaires were retrieved. After excluding 8 questionnaires due to incomplete data, 107 questionnaires were deemed valid for statistical analysis. The research yielded several key findings, the most significant of which include: notable differences in faculty members’ perceptions of governance dimensions, attributable to the university and years of service variables, and significant differences among faculty members regarding organizational reputation, also attributable to the university variable. There was a significant impact of governance dimensions (participation, accountability, and organizational effectiveness) on the organizational reputation of the educational staff in the universities of northern Syria. However, no significant impact of the transparency dimension on the organizational reputation of the faculty members (research sample) in the universities of northern Syria was found.

Keywords: Governance, transparency, participation, accountability, organizational effectiveness, organizational reputation, universities of northern Syria.
