Abstract:

The Roman soldier often enjoyed free time that he tried to entertain himself and spend a good time away from the daily military routine. In addition, that the imperial government often allowed to organize games and competitions. As well as allowed to establish entertainment facilities within the military bases such as the stands. In order to draw the attention of the soldiers about political life and to reduce the difficulty of military life as much as possible. Although there were some positive effects of this imperial policy towards soldiers, but it had negative effects represented in the lack of discipline in the army and the weakness of the Roman military system in the East in particular, due to the laziness of the soldiers and their idleness resulting from the long periods of peace and emptiness.
